“Ever since I was little, I’ve always been where the animals are, I’ve had a love and passion for them for as long as I can remember. Whether it's grooming, training or caring for dogs; learning to understand each dog's personal needs and wants and working with different breeds and personalities has been so incredible. It’s been such a highlight to see so many dogs grow to reach their full potential here at Mayrich. It's been pretty amazing to get up each day go into a job where you can make such a difference for so many dogs and build so many wonderful relationships. I love what I do, I can’t honestly imagine being anywhere else.” -Ashley “Choose a job that you love and you will never work a day in your life.” -Confucius |

"Being around animals is my passion. Anyone who knows me knows that animals are all I talk about; whether it's my own animals, listening to others share or helping my friends and family learn more, I love passing on knowledge of what I've learned. From a young age I knew that a career working with animals was the path I wanted to take and I can't see myself doing anything else! I love that at Mayrich, I am able to work one on one with each individual dog and really get to know them. I've gotten to see so many of our boarding and daycare dogs grow up and develop, as well as watch dogs make full transformations in our training and grooming programs. The bond that I've been able to build with these dogs and the love that I have for them is so special and why I chose this career." -Marissa |

In addition to receiving her Diploma as a Developmental Services Worker, Marissa has worked in the animal care industry for over eight years. She began her journey by dog walking, working in a veterinary clinic for several years as well as in a large boarding facility for two years. This experience taught Marissa a tremendous amount about animal welfare and how to properly manage and care for a variety of species. This experience made her a true asset to our Mayrich Family, and we were thrilled to have her join us full time in 2018. Since joining, Marissa has completed her apprenticeship and now works as a professional groomer and dog trainer and runs the day-to-day operations of boarding and daycare alongside Ashley and Meagan. Marissa is a skilled dog handler and trainer, with a passion for trick training in particular. She has made it her mission to learn everything she can about working dogs, working lines and herding. Marissa will be starting her journey into the competitive herding world this season, and we are so excited for her and can't wait to cheer her and Cooper on in the arena as they embark on this new adventure!

"Dogs have quite literally been my obsession since before I could speak. Growing up I would train every dog I could get my hands on and spent countless hours pouring over Dog Encyclopedias & Dog History books, making it my mission to learn everything I could about each breed of dog. This infatuation would open the door to the successful career that I enjoy today. I feel incredibly fortunate to get to work with people and dogs, particularly the dogs that are challenging and misunderstood." -Meagan |

Meagan has been training dogs for her entire lifetime and professionally for nearly two decades, now. Her career has been spent primarily working with dogs with severe behavioural issues and challenges. She's made it her life's mission to help find solutions for these dogs as well as to help dog owners identify the reason(s) behind their dog's behavioural issues; which is almost always direct result of genetics coupled with poor management and lack of consistent, fair training. Meagan's programs are results driven and always put the dog's needs first and foremost. She places a strong emphasis on the education of the dog owner, helping them to better understand the role that genetics plays in that dog's life and the influence it has on behaviours and characteristics. Meagan shows her student's how to honour their dog's genetics in order to maximize that dog's potential and develop a strong relationship and bond; working with, as opposed to against their dog, in order to achieve lasting success. In addition to training dogs professionally, Meagan also trains working stockdogs and competes successfully with her own dogs in Sheep & Cattle herding trials.
